We Have a USDA-Accredited Veterinarian on Staff
Before you can take your animals anywhere within the United States or internationally, they need a veterinary health certificate. Ark Vet is here to help you with the paperwork for your pet’s domestic travel.
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) is an official document, completed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian, that the state your animal is traveling to requires for entry.
CVI proves that the animal you are carrying has passed inspection and the criteria set by the destination area. It also proves that the animals are healthy and free of diseases or parasites.

Questions we hear about this.
What is a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI)?
A CVI is an official health certificate, completed and signed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian, showing that an animal has been inspected and meets the entry requirements of the state it’s traveling to. Each state sets its own entry requirements. Source: USDA APHIS.
Which certificates can Ark provide?

How far ahead of travel should I book?
Contact us as soon as you know your travel date and destination. Many certificates are only valid for a limited time and some destinations require tests or vaccinations first, so early planning helps. Call (704) 675-7387.
Does my horse need a Coggins test to travel?
Usually, yes. North Carolina requires horses over six months old to have a negative Coggins (EIA) test from the past 12 months to enter the state or attend public shows and events, and most other states have similar rules. Many boarding facilities ask for one too. We offer Coggins testing as part of our preventative care. Source: NCDA&CS Veterinary Division.
